Lingering showers and storms mainly across northern into north central Iowa will continue this morning, with heavy rainfall and frequent lightning the main threats. A cold front arriving across western Iowa this afternoon will track east through the evening, bringing possible severe weather. The most favorable timeframe for severe weather is between 2-8pm, though storms may start a little earlier or persist a little later depending on the progression of the front. The primary risks include large hail, damaging wind gusts of 60+ mph and heavy rain, though a few tornadoes are also possible mainly west.
