1 Dead, Widespread Damage Reported As Tornado Hits New Orleans
At least one person is dead and several others injured after a tornado ripped through New Orleans and surrounding areas Tuesday night.
Officials are reporting extensive damage.
Photos from the New Orleans Fire Department show crumpled cars flipped over, roofs torn off buildings, and leveled houses.
It appears Arabi, located in St. Bernard Parish, may have been the hardest hit, with officials requesting a “major EMS response” overnight amid reports of injuries and residents trapped.
Parts of the St. Bernard Parish, southeast of New Orleans, were heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
