6.0 Magnitude Undersea Earthquake Hits West Indonesia
A 6.0 undersea earthquake hit West Indonesia on late Tuesday.
The 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the island of Sumatra, at a depth of 36 miles. While the quake caused panic, there are currently no reports of any deaths or serious damage.
According to The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the quake measured at 6.5 magnitude and was considered too deep to cause a tsunami.
Indonesia is located in the Pacific’s “Ring of Fire” and is a frequent location for earthquakes. In February, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck West Sumatra, killing 25.
