MASON CITY — The COVID-19 active case count in north-central Iowa is 100 people higher than it was at the start of the month.
Since April 1st, the active case count has risen from 1677 in the ten-county listening area to 1779 as of midday Wednesday, according to data from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
In the 48 hour period between midday Monday and midday today, 49 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in north-central Iowa with 52 new recoveries being reported.
One new death was also reported in Cerro Gordo County, with the county’s death total rising to 87. It moves up the ten-county listening area death toll to 396.
Nine people are hospitalized with COVID in the north-central Iowa medical region currently. One of those patients is on a ventilator in an intensive care unit.
