Bump, Set, Spike: New Volleyball Coach At Grambling Cuts Entire Roster
Starting from scratch. Grambling State University’s new head volleyball coach has decided to cut the entire team.
Coach Chelsey Lucas notified all 19 players on Monday that their scholarships weren’t renewed because they didn’t perform to her standard during three practices she held this semester.
GSU Athletics Communications Director Brian Howard defended the move. “I hate to say out with the old, but in with the new a little bit.”
One player who spoke with local TV station KSLA in Louisiana said she and her teammates are “heartbroken” and now scrambling to figure out if they should transfer.
