Today through Sunday morning will generally be unpleasant across most of the state thanks to a combination of expected ice, wintry mix, and snow. Many of the highlighted winter weather advisory and winter storm areas will see at least periods of light freezing rain and freezing drizzle during the day today.
Areas north of Highway 30 have the best shot at seeing freezing precipitation most of the day, unfortunately. Untreated roadways and bridges will be especially susceptible to icing over and causing dangerous travel conditions. Keep in mind, only a light coating of ice is needed to ruin your day.
By the evening, freezing rain and freezing drizzle will begin to transition over to all snow and continue throughout the overnight hours. Through Sunday morning, some areas may see as much as 3 to 4 inches of snow, while most will see 2 inches or less.
