Area runners and walkers are invited to “turn the lights on” for One Vision’s Festival of Trees celebration at the 8th Annual Lights On 5K Run/Walk. All proceeds from registration, donations, and funds raised will be used to buy Christmas gifts for individuals in need who are supported by One Vision.
The Run: Run or walk 5 kilometers or 3.11 miles on your own between Thursday Dec. 3rd at 4:30pm and Sunday Dec. 6th at 6:00pm. Send your times to [email protected] to see your name on the leaderboard! You can run on a treadmill, around your neighborhood, on the beach, or at the International Space Station – wherever you’re comfortable. This means you don’t have to live in the Clear Lake community to participate. Remember you must register for your time to count.
Kids are also invited to register for a 1/2-mile fun run and will receive a finishers medal and treats from Santa!
Packet pickup for both the 5K and Kid’s Candy Can Fun Run registrations will be at the Clear Lake Chamber at 205 Main Ave Clear Lake, IA 50428 Dec. 3-4, 8:00am-4:30pm.
The Festivity: Participants are encouraged to dress in holiday lights and costumes. Prizes will be given out for Best Interpretation of Theme “Home for the Holidays” for team and individual, Best Use of Lights, and the Spirit Award! Send pictures of your walk and run to [email protected] to be considered for a prize!
Awards will be given to 1st place overall male and female winners as well as prizes for categories listed above. Results will be posted on One Vision’s Facebook page and we will coordinate socially-distanced prize pickup with each winner after the event.

The Thank You: Sponsors for this year’s LightsOn5K are Splash Multisport, Vincent Roofing LLC/Clear Choice Construction, Holmes Murphy
Last year, you helped us raise over $4,500 at the Lights On 5K! Volunteers helped wrap and deliver gifts to 76 people who wouldn’t otherwise have a Christmas.
After registering, help One Vision make sure the people we support have a Merry Christmas:
Encourage family and friends to donate to your run even if they can’t make it to the event.
2. Join or create a team!
By creating a team you can combine forces and bring fundraising for One Vision to your community. When teams come together, they are more likely to raise more funds. Be your team’s biggest cheerleader and encourage members to get the word out in their community.
3. Post on social media!
Your friends, family, and community supporters can donate to your team or One Vision’s Christmas Fund directly without committing to register. Be sure to include information about LightsOn5K and what their money is funding: One Vision’s Christmas Fund for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
4. Reach out to your circles!
You can send tailored emails to different groups such as former classmates, coworkers, or church clubs that detail One Vision’s goal and your fundraising efforts. You never know who may have a personal connection to One Vision’s mission to provide services that lead to greater purpose.
5. Thank your donors!
An email or direct social media message is a great way to personalize appreciation for a donation and they will be more likely to join your cause for One Vision in the future.
