Good News: A Generous Student, a Roller-Skating Dad, and a Son’s Promise to His Mom
Here are a few more good news stories making the rounds . . .
1. A high school senior in Missouri saved up more than $1,000 to help pay his own way through college next year. Then he got a $43,000 scholarship. So now he’s using his savings to help pay another kid’s tuition.
2. A woman in Pennsylvania has been posting videos of her 60-year-old father roller-skating, and he’s a hit on TikTok. He doesn’t do anything special. He just skates in circles to music at his local rink, and sometimes his friends join in. But he’s racked up over 10 million views, and almost all the comments have been positive.
3. Here’s a fun rags-to-riches story: A dog in New Jersey was at a shelter last year for eight months, and no one wanted him because he had too much energy. But then a cop started working with him in September . . . and now he’s a police dog.
4. And here’s another dog story that’s pretty great: Back in 2009, a 15-year-old kid tried to get a dog park built in his town in northern New Jersey. His mom was a big fan of the idea, and sadly she’s no longer with us. But before she passed away, he told her he’d get it done. So he’s spent the past 12 years raising $85,000 to pay for it. And it finally opened this weekend, just in time for Mother’s Day.
