Hazardous winter travel conditions are becoming more likely Thursday as a powerful cold front delivers snow chances, strong northwest winds gusting above 40 mph, and falling temperatures. Blowing snow may develop due to the gusty winds creating low visibility, and conditions could be near-blizzard at times in rural areas. Falling temperatures may quickly turn any wet or slushy roads to ice. While snow totals may be light, any falling snow would only worsen conditions. Those with travel plans are encouraged to stay tuned for forecast updates.

Bitter cold Arctic air engulfs the region this weekend into at least early next week. Dangerous cold wind chills of 20 to 30 below or colder are possible at times, especially Sunday and Monday mornings.
