Hungry Rhino Escapes From Pen At Omaha Zoo

A hungry rhinoceros at an Omaha zoo decided to bust out of his pen and go on a lunch break.

Visitors and staffers at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium spotted the rhino munching on grass behind a barn.

Workers were able to corral the rhino, named Jontu, back into his proper place and no one was harmed.

A zoo official says Jontu was just hungry because some deer had eaten all the grass in his pen, proving “the grass is always greener on the other side. It certainly was for him.”

Jontu, a 5,000-pound rhinoceros, found that the grass was greener on the other side. He slipped out of his pen at the Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo to an open area where zookeepers found him chomping away on large patches of grass. https://t.co/kdgXmJTthJ
