Massive Internet Outage Takes Down Major News, Government Sites
Websites around the world, including major news sites, were temporarily shut down during a massive outage early Tuesday.
Fastly, an American cloud computing services provider, said it started investigating the issue about 6 a.m. ET and had applied “a fix” about an hour later.
It’s not immediately clear what caused the outage.
Multiple news outlets were taken offline, including BBC, Bloomberg News, CNN, The Financial Times, The Guardian, and The New York Times.
Amazon and the U.K.’s government website also stopped working at points as well.
Several major websites, including those of the British government, The New York Times and The Guardian, were inaccessible for many users on Tuesday morning. It was unclear what caused the outages. https://t.co/laoXgwFkL9
