MASON CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in north-central Iowa jumped up over the weekend.
In the time period between midday Friday and midday today, 80 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in our ten-county listening area while only 33 people were listed as newly recovered. No new deaths were reported. The number of active cases rose from 1791 on Friday to 1834 today.
In Cerro Gordo County, 33 new cases were identified between Friday and today with only 11 new recoveries. The county’s active case count has risen from 488 at the start of the month to 597 today.
The number of hospitalizations in the north-central Iowa medical region was stable over the weekend, staying at seven on Monday with one patient in an intensive care unit and on a ventilator.
