IOWA CITY — The founder of the Prime Time and Game Time leagues in eastern Iowa and longtime supporter of both the University of Iowa men’s and women’s basketball programs has passed away. Randy Larson was a longtime Iowa City lawyer who ran the Prime Time League for 31 years, ending in 2018 after serving as an offseason competition for members of the Iowa team, with Northern Iowa players eventually joining in. Larson later worked with Iowa women’s coach Lisa Bluder in starting a similar program for women student-athletes. Larson also was the head boys basketball coach at Iowa City Regina for seven seasons, compiling a 95-69 record. The University of Iowa says Larson passed away over the weekend.

IOWA CITY — Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara likes the potential of the Hawkeyes for next season. McNamara transferred from Michigan and takes the helm of an offense that was one of the worst in the country last season.

McNamara has been impressed with the culture of the Iowa program.

The Hawkeyes open at home on September 2nd against Utah State.
