No End In Sight For US Baby Formula Shortage
After several months, the U.S. baby formula shortage is only getting worse.
In the first half of 2021, the out-of-stock rate for formula was between 2 percent and 8 percent.
That changed between November and April, when it jumped to 31 percent, according to information from Datasembly.
Then, in the last three weeks of April, it climbed another 9 percent and now sits at 40 percent, per Datasembly. “This issue has been compounded by supply chain issues, product recalls and historic inflation,” says Datasembly CEO Ben Reich.
“Unfortunately, given the unprecedented amount of volatility to the category, we anticipate baby formula to continue to be one of the most affected products in the market.”
