No NBA Games on Election Day

The schedule for the upcoming NBA season will be released on Wednesday, but one day will not be included.

In an effort to encourage voting, the NBA will not be playing any games on Election Day, which is November 8.

“We don’t usually change the schedule for an external event,” said James A. Cadogan, the executive director for the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition. “But voting and Election Day are obviously unique and incredibly important to our democracy and that’s part of the value proposition that we want to make sure people understand that voting is unlike anything else.”

November 8 may be off the calendar, but we can expect the NBA’s opening night of the season to happen on October 18.
Do you think this is a great way to encourage voting? How else should the NBA encourage voting?
