Snapchat removes ‘Speed Filter’
Snapchat features tons of filters, but one, in particular, has caused a lot of criticism.
The ‘Speed Filter’ captures how fast users are moving and users share these speeds amongst friends. Many safety advocates claim that this filter encourages reckless driving.
Snapchat has had this filter in place since 2013 and has faced many lawsuits from families of those that were severely injured or killed from car crashes that used this filter to record their speeds.
A company spokesperson said, “The feature is barely used by Snapchatters. And in light of that, we are removing it altogether.”
EXCLUSIVE: Snapchat is removing its “speed filter” that lets users capture how fast they’re moving and share it with friends.
The feature has been linked to several deadly car crashes over the years.https://t.co/cIxxgHb3aE
