Study Identifies The Country’s ‘Most Stressed’ State
While Chicago is overrun with shootings and New York City suffers from a high crime rate, apparently neither of these issues is the source of stress for residents.
Illinois and New York don’t even appear on WalletHub’s list of the “Most Stressed States in the U.S.”
Instead, topping this year’s list is Louisiana, which earns the honor because residents work longer hours for less pay than other states’ residents do, according to WalletHub officials. “So that obviously is stressful and that leads to a lot of problems at home that are money-related,” says analyst Jill Gonzales.
“Divorce and separation is also very rampant there.” Checking in at number two on this year’s list is Nevada, followed by New Mexico and West Virginia, according to WalletHub. And rounding out the top five is Mississippi.
