There’s A Reason Why French Bulldogs Are Frequent Targets For Thieves

The shooting of Lady Gaga’s dogwalker and the theft of her beloved pets highlights that French Bulldogs are frequently stolen.

“Smaller breeds are more appealing for theft, and French bulldogs are wildly popular right now,” says Brandi Hunter, vice president of public relations and communications at the American Kennel Club. And because getting your hands on one is generally an expensive affair, with CNN noting some puppies fetch between $1,500 and $5,000, dognappers know people are willing to pay big bucks to get them back.

According to Hunter, owners should keep an eye on the dog at all times, get them chipped and fixed, and try not to disclose any identifying information in social media posts.
