U.S. Job Openings Remain High

Demand for workers is still high – although the job market has cooled off slightly, according to the U.S. Labor Department.

Employers posted 11.4 million job openings in the month of April, down from a record 11.9 million in March. April also saw roughly 4.4 million Americans quit their jobs, usually to take a different job for higher pay.

The hot job market can be a double-edged sword – while workers are earning more money, that can drive costs up for employers, which further increases inflation.
