Thousands of baseball fans from across the country braved the pandemic on Thursday to head to Dyersville, Iowa, to watch the first-ever MLB game played on the field depicted in the 1989 film, “Field of Dreams.”

Among them was the star of the iconic movie, Kevin Costner, who predicted the game between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox will be the first of many to be played on the field.

“It’s obvious every team is going to want to play here,” he said. And he’s getting no argument from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. “We will be back,” he said just as the game got underway.

“It’s pretty clear we’ll be back next year.”
