Zoom To Pay $85 Million Settlement Over ‘Zoombombings’

Videoconferencing company Zoom has agreed to pay an $85 million settlement over so-called ‘Zoombombing’.

‘Zoombombing’ refers to incidents where private Zoom chats would be bombarded by uninvited guests – who would disrupt the meeting with profanity, pornographic posts, or even racial slurs.

The class-action settlement means any user who subscribed to Zoom between March 2016 and now is eligible for payment – either $25 or 15% of the cost of your Zoom subscription.

The company also promises to improve security and encryption to better protect user data.
