‘Breadflation’ A Major Sign Of Surging Prices
While prices are going up just about everywhere, a few items tend to stand out more than others.
Enter ‘Breadflation’. The average per-pound price of white bread in the U.S. has surged more than 25% since the pandemic began.
And premium loaves of bread are selling for as much as $10. One analyst told Bloomberg that the price of bread can have “the same impact as gasoline hitting $5 a gallon”.
