California Lawmakers Working On $400 Gas Rebate For Each Resident
California lawmakers have proposed legislation that will help ease the pain residents are feeling at the pump.
The proposal, announced Thursday by Democratic lawmakers, seeks to give each resident a $400 rebate to help offset the high prices they’re paying for gasoline.
The money would come from the state’s $9 billion budget surplus, according to the bill.
“Many Californians are … looking to California’s leaders for help,” says Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris. “We believe a rebate is the best approach to directly put money in people’s pockets.”
It’s another stimmy check framed as a gas tax rebate for every California taxpayer — even if you don’t’ drive or have a car — under a new proposal before the state Assembly, but Gavin Newsom thinks only people with cars should get the payments. https://t.co/dOdlUGMvP6
