CDC Revises Numbers On Omicron Variant
Looks like the Omicron variant isn’t quite as dominant as we thought – not yet, at least.
On Tuesday, the CDC downgraded its estimates on the prevalence of Omicron, which it now says accounts for roughly 59 percent of all U.S. infections.
That means that while Omicron is spreading fast, the Delta variant still accounts for more than 40 percent of new infections – and a large chunk of new hospitalizations.
The U.S. is currently averaging about 200,000 new cases per day.
