Study finds 2 in 3 parents secretly look at their teens’ phones

With school out for summer, the rise of social distancing, and the explosion of social media apps like TikTok, teens are spending more time on their phones than ever before.

With this in mind, the team at WhistleOut.com conducted a survey asking parents and teens all about the secrets they keep from each other on their phones. We found that 64% of parents admitted to looking at their teen’s phones! You can see the full report and results here: Teens Value their Cell Phone Privacy—But Most Parents Snoop

Interesting findings include:

  • Almost two thirds (64%) of parents have snooped on their teens’ phones
  • Most teens (62%) admit they hide at least some of what they do on their phones from their parents
  • More than half of teens (54%) said they’d rather go a week without their phone than let their parents look through their device
