Top Gun: Maverick’ 2nd Box Office Weekend Is Beating Every ‘Mission: Impossible’ Opening
This weekend marks the second weekend in a row that Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” which was co-financed and co-produced by Skydance, has taken in an impressive $25 million from 4,751 locations.
With 4,732 North American theaters, “Maverick” had the widest domestic debut of all time last weekend, but it gained 19 more for its second weekend. Through Sunday, the studio expects an $84.5 million take, a shocking 33% decrease from its $124 million three-day debut, marking the smallest dip in U.S. box office history for a film that opened over $100 million dollars.
Accordingly, “Maverick” has been a huge success thus far. Filmgoers’ reactions to the sequel have been overwhelmingly positive, as seen by the film’s “A+” mark on Cinema Score.
