World Population To Reach 7.9B On New Year’s Day
The population of the world is expected to reach 7.9 billion on New Year’s Day, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The new figure represents a 0.9 percent increase over January 1st, 2022, the bureau reports. The world’s population is growing by 4.3 births every second, while two people are dying at the same rate, data indicates.
Also on New Year’s Day, the population of the U.S. is expected to be at 334.2 million, marking an increase of 1.5 million since the previous New Year’s Day, officials say.
Over the next year, the U.S. is expected to see a new birth every nine seconds and a death every 10 seconds, the Census Bureau says.
